Repeat prescriptions
Depending on the type of medication, we may order “repeats” at the time of writing the prescription. Except for certain medications usually prescribed only by specialists, most prescriptions can be renewed by your GP.
Endoscopy, blood test, and radiology results
Our front desk will not be able to give you results over the phone or by email. We will call you to arrange an appointment if your results require further discussions.
Telephone calls
Our phone lines are open from Monday-Friday, from 9:00 am-4.30 pm, and closed from 12:00-1:00 pm for lunch. We are closed on Wednesdays.
We will try to return as many calls as possible if you leave a message but please be informed that due to the very large volume of calls, we may not be able to oblige. If you do not leave a message, we will not be able to determine the origin of any missed calls. As a policy and for medico-legal reasons, Dr. Ho does not provide email consultations.
We appreciate that it can be frustrating when you are not able to get through to our office. Nevertheless, we ask that patients be respectful in your interaction with our office staff.
Endoscopic procedures
Endoscopic procedures are performed only at Lion's Gate Hospital.
Uninsured services
A number of services are not covered by the Medical Services Plan. Some of these services may be covered by your Extended Medical Plan. Payment for uninsured services is due upon receipt of the service. For your convenience we accept the following payments: Cash, cheques or credit card.
Computerized medical records
We have complete computerized medical records on all our patients. Computerized medical records allow us to have access to your records promptly and allows for efficient delivery of medical care. We also have a computerized interface to medical labs in the area and Lion's Gate Hospital, allowing access to all your lab reports.
Transfer of medical records
Although this is an uninsured service , we generally do not charge for this service as we consider this part of good patient care. However if there are circumstances where the administrative task at hand is very time consuming, a small fee is chargeable usually to the patient unless there is an a third party e.g. insurance company who will be responsible for the fee.
Cancellations and no-shows
Failure to cancel your appointment if you are not able to make it not only disrupts the schedule but will waste a potential time slot that could be given to a patient in need of medical care.
You will be charged a “Rebooking fee" if you do not provide ample cancellation notice (at least 1 business day for office appointments and 3 business days for endoscopic appointments).
We hope that our patients respect this office policy.
​After hours access to gastroenterology services
Dr. Ho works alongside a group of Gastroenterologists at Lion’s Gate Hospital(LGH) and we provide emergency on-call service at LGH.
After hours access to a GI specialist is through Lion’s Gate Hospital Emergency Room. Urgent access to a gastroenterologist when Dr. Ho is away can also be pre-arranged with one of the Gastroenterologists at Lion’s Gate Hospital.
